As part of the sale of the KCET lot, KCET is removing all signage that belongs to KCET and we will pay tribute to all of those whose generosity had been acknowledged on our studio property at our new location.
We would like to respond to the erroneous information being circulated about KCET. Here is the truth: KCET is NOT being sold. We are firmly committed to being Southern California's independent public TV station.
KCET understands the frustration that results from any disruption or change in your cable service. There was a brief technical problem with Time Warner Cable earlier this year, but that issue has been resolved. That said, KCET has elected to...
We know many of you have questions about KCET's transition to an independent nonprofit television station. While some of the answers are evolving, we do have responses to some basic questions.
On January 1, 2011, KCET will become the largest public television station in the United States, independent of PBS. Rather than a defeat, this decision is an act of financial prudence, courage and confidence in our community. KCET will be financially stronger and in a position to rethink what public media can be in Southern California.
As 2010 comes to a close, I would like to thank you for your loyal support for KCET -- your local public television station. All of us at KCET are looking ahead to a new and exciting future for all of the communities we serve throughout Southern California, as we undergo some big changes that will make KCET the largest independent public television in the country beginning January 2011.
As part of KCET becoming the nation's largest independent public television station on January 1, 2011, we are changing our line-up of digital channels.
As KCET ramps up to becoming the nation's largest independent public television station on 1/1/11, we're giving our on on-air and web identity a refresh. We're thought we'd give our friends on KCET.org, Twitter and Facebook a preview of the new look.
KCET's 40 year relationship with PBS has been rewarding on many levels. PBS has provided an abundant library of quality programs to our viewers in Southern California to which we have contributed through the production of award winning programs in education, public affairs, drama, and the arts. While we share this rich and satisfying history, it appears that the time has come to acknowledge that this relationship no longer works.
