KCET TOPS LOS ANGELES AREA EMMY® AWARDS AT 59TH ANNUAL CEREMONY Winning more awards in a single ceremony than at any previous time in its 43-year history, KCET won six statuettes at the 59th Los Angeles Area Emmy® Awards held Saturday night. The wins followed 15 nominations in eight categories that often saw KCET productions competing against each other. In addition, the station tied with KNBC for most wins for the evening. Presented by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the awards ceremony was broadcast live over the Internet from the Academy’s Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood. ENTERTAINMENT, MADE POSSIBLE BY SUPPORT FROM THE STUDIO KCET, public television for Southern and Central California, is launching the KCET Saturday Night Movie with classic films from the Warner Bros. Entertainment library via a pioneering arrangement with Warner Bros. Domestic Cable Distribution (WBDCD), it was announced today by Al Jerome, KCET president and CEO. Hosted by Emmy® Award-winning actor Martin Sheen, the KCET Saturday Night Movie will debut on Saturday, May 5, at 10:00 p.m., with East of Eden, starring James Dean.
