Men Who Made Us Fat - Beginning Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 8 p.m.

On Wednesdays, beginning April 2 at 8 p.m., KCET premieres the three-part documentary series, Men Who Made Us Fat. In this highly intriguing BBC series , journalist Jacques Peretti traces those responsible for revolutionizing our eating habits. Around the world, obesity levels are rising. More people are now overweight than undernourished; two thirds of British adults are overweight and one in four of us is classified as obese. Peretti travels to America to investigate the story of high-fructose corn syrup; explores the history of the supersized fast food meal and other promotional tactics; and goes behind marketing and how companies can seduce consumers into buying supposed 'healthy foods'. Men Who Made Us Fat offers a candid look on how healthy our society really is.  The series will air each Wednesday night for three weeks.

New Tricks - Beginning Monday, April 7, 2014 at 8 p.m.

One of the BBC's highest rating drama series, New Tricks, premieres first-run episodes on KCET beginning Monday, April 7 at 8 p.m. The team of grumpy retired coppers, Superintendent Sandra Pullman and her Unsolved Crime and Open Case Squad of Lane, Standing and Halford, are back on the job again, working at the London Metropolitan Police as civilians investigating unsolved crimes and cold cases. Facing the team this time around are cases that include the suspected suicide of a witness to an air crash outside an American military base; a pleasure cruise disaster on the Thames and the disappearance of a young political activist and her boyfriend.
