KCET ANNOUNCES NEW DIGITAL MULTICAST CHANNEL LINE-UP FEATURING NEWLY CREATED KCET KIDS & FAMILY CHANNEL AND THE GLOBAL PROGRAMMING OF MHz WORLDVIEW
Vme Continues on KCET with Quality Spanish-Language Programming for the Entire Family
Los Angeles - December 28, 2010 - KCET, independent public media for Southern and Central California, announced today a new digital multicast channel strategy designed to super serve its diverse Southern California audience.
Effective January 1, 2011, KCET will launch KCET Kids & Family Channel, dedicated to entertaining and educating kids, their families and caregivers, and MHz Worldview, offering international programming targeting Southern California's diverse audience, to its digital channel offerings. KCET will continue to broadcast Vme, the Spanish-language channel, on 28.3, Time Warner Cable ch. 336, Cox ch. 104 and Charter ch. 312. Vme will continue to provide programs of special interest to Hispanic and Latino communities throughout Southern and Central California. All three of KCET's digital multicast channels will offer 24/7 programming.
The digital channels represent format changes for KCET Orange, which transitions to KCET Kids & Family Channel, and PBS World, which transitions to MHz Worldview, the national channel of MHz Networks. In addition, KCET Desert Cities, only available in the Coachella Valley on Time Warner Cable ch. 218, will mirror KCET Kids & Family, with most of its current programming moving to KCET's daytime lifestyle block.

Each of KCET's three digital channels brings a unique mix of quality programming to viewers:
KCET KIDS & FAMILY CHANNEL
KCET Kids & Family (KCETFAM) will feature lively, entertaining, educational and multilingual programs from well-known producers including The Jim Henson Company, Knight's Cove Entertainment and American Public Television. KCET Kids & Family Channel will be available on 28.2, Time Warner Cable ch. 237, Cox ch. 103 and Charter ch. 310.
The television arm of Canada's Knightscove Media Corp. (TSXV: 'KC.A' and 'KC.B'), Knight-TV, will provide a three-hour block of programming, including My Hometown, starring Jay Baruchel (The Sorcerer's Apprentice). From director Jean Mercier, this series is an endearing coming-of-age saga for the entire family.
Additional programs premiering in January include Big Green Rabbit, Signing Time, Wild Animal Baby Explorers, Ribert & Robert's Wonderful World, Anne of Green Gables, Zula Patrol, Wunderkind Little Amadeus, Wyland's Art Studio and Curiosity Quest. The quality content of these series covers a range of topics that positively impacts the lives of children and families. Among the many themes featured are making healthy choices, learning sign language, fun ways to explore science, discovering creative approaches to problem solving, plus exploring personal growth and kid friendly financial lessons.
KCET Kids & Family Channel will also present Spanish-language content, including Los Niños en Su Casa, the informative series that helps caregivers raise healthy, happy children, and The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss (which will appear in both English and Spanish) from The Jim Henson Company.
MHz Worldview (known in the local Los Angeles market as KCETMHZ) is a national, independent, non-commercial channel presenting fresh, relevant English-language international content including news, documentaries, cultural programming, dramas, films and mysteries, music and sports. MHz Worldview will be available on 28.4, Time Warner Cable ch. 238, Cox ch. 105 and Charter ch. 311.
