Throughout its more than 40-year history, KCET has produced thousands of hours of award-winning programming for local, regional and national distribution through television broadcast and online viewing. KCET's New Media Department has produced dozens of websites and web-original series.

ARTBOUND
Artbound is a unique transmedia series that examines Southern California's dynamic cultural landscape and artistic climate. With columns written by more than 20 experienced artistic advisors, cultural critics, curators and journalists, the series uses social media activity as a barometer for the popularity of each article. The most-read (and shared) stories are produced as online videos, some of which are also broadcast on KCET. Since its launch in May 2012, Artbound has earned numerous awards for its coverage of Southern California's unique narrative of arts and culture, including a Southern California Journalism Award, National Entertainment Journalism Award and Golden Mike Award. The site was also named a Webby Award Official Honoree and voted "Best Arts & Culture Site" by L.A. Weekly in 2012. Artbound is funded by the Los Angeles County Arts Commission and Boeing.

BORDER BLASTER
Border Blaster is a multi-platform KCET production curating a collection of music videos from around the world, transcending national borders, and exposing viewers to the cross-fertilization of musical styles and genres defining contemporary music.

Online, viewers can discover and watch a diverse range of music videos, as well as mixes curated by the Border Blaster team. Viewers can also vote for their favorite videos and create user-curated mixes to be broadcast the last week of every month. Watch the videos, vote for your favorites, and check the "Trending" list on the homepage.

Border Blaster airs every Tuesday and Friday at 10:30 p.m.

STAND UP PLANET!
Stand Up Planet is a documentary, transmedia series that showcases life in some of the toughest places on Earth through the lens and experiences of stand-up comics. Hosted by Indian-American stand-up comic, Hasan Minhaj, the project finds some of the best humor coming from corners of the developing world. Starting from his own personal story, Hasan embarks on an epic journey of discovery to find some of the funniest stand-up comics in the most unlikely places: the bustling city of Mumbai, India, and the neighborhoods of Johannesburg, South Africa. Along the way, Hasan follows the jokes and personal experiences of the international comics deep into the hard truths and the promise for change in some of the toughest global poverty issues of our time.

STUDIO A
Studio A is an original music series showcasing Southern California artists and bands. The series reflects the diversity of the region through the cultural backgrounds and musical influences of some of Southern California's most prolific artists. The series showcases an uninterrupted musical set, as well as the cultural stories from which these artists draw their inspiration, including historical and geographical influences.

SOCAL CONNECTED
SoCal Connected, a nightly half-hour series, offers topical news, looking at events, trends, issues and personalities across Southern California. The hard-hitting program anchored by Val Zavala with special contributor Madeleine Brand, covers important issues and public affairs from five major Southland regions: Los Angeles, Orange County, the Inland Empire, Santa Barbara, Ventura, and the Coachella Valley.

VISITING...WITH HUELL HOWSER
The Visiting series takes viewers to the many diverse neighborhoods of Southern California, and introduces them to the people who live there. Visiting has captured the spirit of the Southland with episodes ranging from a look at how menudo is made to the celebration surrounding the rededication of Angel's Flight. 53rd ANNUAL L.A. COUNTY HOLIDAY CELEBRATION
A gala performance presented at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion featuring community and professional choirs, music ensembles, and dance companies representing the diverse cultures and holiday traditions of LA County.

DOC MARTIN "BEHIND THE SCENES"
Viewers can further explore the world of the famous doctor and the cast of colorful characters with a behind-the-scenes special, shot exclusively by KCET in Port Isaac, where the hit Doc Martin series takes place. Featuring everything from provocative interviews with the actors to hints of what is in store for the next season, the 30-minute special recaps every episode of Doc Martin leading up to the finale of Season Four and sheds light on why it's the most popular series on public television in Southern California.

GLOBAL LA
With inhabitants from every country, culture and influence, Los Angeles is one of the world's most international cities. Global LA is a series examining the region's ties to a number of destinations and cultures around the world. Made possible by a generous sponsorship from Suburu and co-produced with Globe Trekker, the series has explored Southern California's British population tied to the Olympics and all things 'haunted' in Los Angeles for Halloween, as well as the area's Desert Communities.

LA TONIGHT WITH ROY FIRESTONE
This half-hour interview show, LA Tonight with Roy Firestone, is hosted by Emmy Award-winning journalist Roy Firestone. Roy invites celebrities and public figures who live in Los Angeles to discuss their lives and the provocative issues shaping today's news. This year, Roy spoke with Burt Bacharach, Andre Agassi, Diane Warren, Steve Tyrell, Debbie Allen, Chris Botti, Suzanna Guzman and Chef Joachim Splichal.

LIVE @ THE FORD
Live@theFord is a performing arts series now in its second season showcasing the diverse cultural performances at the historic 1,200-seat Ford Amphitheatre during the 2012 summer season. The series will present a diverse cross-section of cultures, artists and genres, including: ¡Viva LA Tradición! A Tribute to Nati Cano y Los Camperos, AlohaFest! Kanikapila! and VARIEDADES: The Ballad of Ricardo Flores Magón.

LOCAL HEROES CELEBRATION
For the first time, KCET broadcast its annual Local Heroes Awards Cultural Diversity Celebration in November. Hosted by KCET's own Val Zavala and Roy Firestone, the two-hour program celebrated the extraordinary contributions of 13 outstanding community leaders, with featured performances by the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles, Jazz in Pink, pianist Ray Ushikubo and poet Gabriela Garcia Medina. KCET, in collaboration with Union Bank, N.A., celebrated diversity all year long through the Local Heroes program. The celebration culminated with this spectacular event, which took place at Club Nokia at L.A. Live in October.

OPEN CALL
Hosted by opera sensation Suzanna Guzmán, Open Call is a weekly series that immerses audiences in performances by the dynamic talent of our region. The program takes viewers behind the scenes and into the classrooms, rehearsal halls and auditoriums of some of the most widely acclaimed institutions based in Southern California. Each episode features interviews with Guzmán and the artists and leaders of these organizations to engage viewers and set the scene for the broadcast. KCET has showcased the wonderful and varied productions from organizations including USC, UCLA, Colburn School and Camerta Pacifica, as well as from producers such as Joe Mantegna, Dan Guntzleman, Freida Lee Mock and Jessica Sanders.

PLAY ME, I'M YOURS
Play Me, I'm Yours is a special programming initiative chronicling the performing arts project of the same name that took over Los Angeles County in April. Val Zavala visits three piano locations which are featured in one-minute segments including Julliardtrained pianist U-Jung Jung in San Pedro (who set out to play all thirty pianos), LACO Executive Director Rachel Fine at the Chinatown piano, and the children of the Watts/Willowbrook Boys' and Girls' Club where kids had a try at being maestros for the day.

YOUR TURN TO CARE
Hosted by Holly Robinson Peete, Your Turn to Care is a nationally syndicated program that explores the challenges facing America's growing generation of baby boomers who are taking care of ailing or aging loved ones, offering strategies and advice for helping navigate these complex caregiving waters. The series features national quarterly television specials, local television segments, a multi-faceted complementary website and social media. The program subject matter is crafted from input from celebrities living with caregiving issues, carefully selected experts that specialize in medicine, aging, family relationships, finance, long term care...and most importantly, caregivers themselves.
