Melody Soto is a journalism student living in the San Fernando Valley and the former director of the community radio station, KPCRadio.com.
She loves a good story.

LOCATION: The Valley
WHAT INSPIRES ME: Passionate people!, "the Other," clouds that resemble things, old clothing, cowboy boots, gothic cathedrals, Joan Baez, rocks and mountains, a really good film, dark chocolate and the sweet sound of music.
FAVORITE PLACE TO GET AWAY IN MY AREA: Sycamore Cove, a majestic summer (or any other time of the year) getaway.
FAVORITE WRITERS: William Faulkner, Jane Austen, Albert Camus, Pablo Neruda, Jerzey Kosinski, and my wise high school philosophy teacher: Ray Linn.
ARTIST/CREATIVE YOU’D WANT TO HAVE LUNCH WITH: Can I have a picnic? I'd rather have a picnic. I'm assuming the person in question must be alive, so, it would have to be environmental artist, Christo.
MOST OVER-HYPED ARTIST: I don't know if I have the time for this..
PERFECT SOUNDTRACK FOR WRITING: Nothing too upbeat. I have a tendency toward the meloncholy. Folk music will do the trick, something written ages ago relating to never marrying or being murdered. I like Jackson C. Frank and more contemporary folksy folk when the creative juices run low and a deadline is approaching.
WHY I LOVE WHERE I LIVE: The diversity of Los Angeles is extraordinary. I can wander off to any given direction and instantly be transported to a remote corner so distinct from my starting point.
We have the beach and mountains in our backyard.
Why not embark on a new expedition everyday?
