Women in the Arts at Calexico Cultural Arts Center (May 31- June 8)
Since 2008, the Calexico Cultural Arts Center has hosted various community events. Friday, June 8 will be your last opportunity to visit the "Women in the Arts" exhibit featuring ceramics, paintings, photographs and sculptures by local artists.

Gallery Show at Inyo Council for the Arts Gallery & Theater (April 15 - June 15)
This ongoing exhibit features an array of visual art. Selected works on display include photographs by Stephen Ingram, water color paintings by Maryann Thomas and wooden sculptures by David Miller.

Farmyard Blue Grass Festival at Murray Farms (June 9)
The first annual Farmyard Blue Grass Festival will take place Saturday, in Bakersfield. Local bluegrass bands "Out of the Blue" and "The Brothers Barton" are scheduled to take the stage.

SLANGUAGE at LAXART (June 2 - September 2)
The SLANGUAGE exhibit continues for the second weekend at LAXART, as part of Made In L.A. 2012. The SLANGUAGE installation features an interactive display of the 10-year history of the collective's projects. While attending, sign up to participate in
upcoming group workshops and performances, taking place at LAXART throughout the summer.

Orange County:

Robert Irwin and Charles Ray at the Orange County Museum of Art (OCMA) (May 16-June 27)
The Orange County Museum of Art has been celebrating 50 years by pairing the work of two artists in several exhibits. June is the last month to see the work of a member of the 'light and space' movement, Robert Irwin juxtaposed with the work of sculptor Charles Ray.

Rodin to Now: Modern Sculpture at the Palm Springs Art Museum (March - June 26)
A timeline of modern architecture featuring masters of the three dimensional, is on display at the Palm Springs Art Museum. Accredited as the progenitor of modern sculpture, the exhibition commences with French artist, Auguste Rodin's "Cybele." Other prominent artists featured are Henry Moore, Robert Therrien and Pablo Picasso.

Kurt Vile at Pappy and Harriet's (June 8)
Catch singer-songwriter, Kurt Vile as he performs his last show in California before heading out to Tennessee to play the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, on June 10. Opening acts for the evening include Michael Chapman and Meg Baird.

The Jewish Latino Film Series (June 4 - July 11)
Presented by the San Diego Jewish Film Festival and the San Diego Latino Festival, this multi-cultural cinematic presentation, continues with a showing of "Salsa Tel Aviv," directed by Yohanan Weller and starring Mexican actress, Angelica Vale.

"Planet of Love" at The Spot (through June 17)
The newest production of the Santa Marina theater company, the Poetic Justice Project, is a comedy. Written by Deborah Tobola, "Planet of Love" centers on an alien that lands in a prison.

Portrayal/Betrayal at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art (June 2 - September 16)
The idea of a 'true self,' and the relationship between a subject and a photographer is examined in Portrayal/Betrayal at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art.
Who does one become when 'posing' in front of a camera? After being photographed, who does one become in the eyes of the observer or interpreter?
Several elements come into question.
