The 2015 Spring KCET Cinema Series at the ArcLight Cinemas Sherman Oaks opened with the much anticipated action thriller, '71, an intense storyline following a young British soldier (Jack O'Connell) who is accidentally abandoned by his unit following a riot on the streets of Belfast in 1971.

Unable to tell friend from foe, and increasingly wary of his own comrades, he must survive the night alone and find his way to safety through a disorientating, alien and deadly landscape.

Director Yann Demange makes his directorial debut with '71 and garnered several nominations and awards including a 2014 British Independent Film Award for Best Director, and a 2015 BAFTA Award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer. Demange joined host Pete Hammond for an engaging conversation about the making of the film.
