The North Hollywood KCET Cinema Series continued last night with a screening of The Lady, the true story of Aung San Suu Kyi.
About the film:
The stirring true story of Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi, the courageous woman at the core of Burma's democracy movement is also at heart a sweeping love story of a couple who sacrifice family and personal happiness at great human cost for a higher cause. Director Luc Besson has gotten extraordinary performances from his stars Michelle Yeoh and acclaimed actor David Thewlis sure to be year-end award contenders.
After the film, host Pete Hammond led a Q&A with actor David Thewlis. The discussion revolved around the current political situation in Burma, the obstacles the actors and crew went through to film, and Aung San Suu Kyi's life. Here are some pictures taken at the event.
