Last night KCET Cinema Series screened "A Better Life," a film directed by Chris Weitz starring Demián Bichir. A dry eye was hard to find at the end of the film, which told the story about a father and son living in East L.A.
About the film:
The film follows the struggles of a gardener in East L.A. as he strives to keep his son away from gangs and immigration agents while traveling across town to perform landscaping work for the city's wealthy landowners. Mexican actor Demián Bichir (Weeds), José Julián and Nancy Lenehan star. Directed by Chris Weitz (About A Boy, Twilight:New Moon).
The screening was followed by a Q&A led by film critic Pete Hammond with director Chris Weitz and a producer of the film. Audience members asked about the film's distribution, crew, and the search for actor José Julián.
What did you think about the film? Will you take your friends to watch it?
