The Johnny Mercer Foundation made the KCET Cinema Series Summer Season possible. On Tuesday, July 19, series attendees were pleased to watch the Johnny Mercer scored film, 'Daddy Long Legs.'
About the film:
Back on the big screen where it belongs, Johnny Mercer wrote music and lyrics for this 1955 Oscar nominated Color by Deluxe and Cinemascope musical classic which features the irresistible standards "Something's Gotta Give" and "Dream" in addition to many others on its soundtrack. The incomparable Fred Astaire stars in one of his most memorable roles as a millionaire who becomes infatuated with an 18 year old French girl (Leslie Caron) while in France and secretly finances her education but then romance eventually rears its beautiful head. Oscar nominated actress Terry Moore co-stars as Fred's daughter along with Thelma Ritter.
After the film, actress Terry Moore and Johnny Mercer BOD member Charles Tigerman and Michael Kerker answered audience questions.
