
KCET Cinema Series members were in for a treat at the July 24th screening of the Johnny Mercer scored classic, "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers." After the screening host Pete Hammond led a Q&A with stars Julie Newmar, Dante DePaulo, and Earl Barton, who played Dorcas, Matt, and Harry, respectively.
About the film:
The much-acclaimed big screen movie musical, Seven Brides For Seven Brothers stars Howard Keel, Jane Powell, Russ Tamblyn and a great cast of singers and dancers is presented once again in all of its original glory. With seven great songs from Johnny Mercer and directed by the legendary Stanley Donen with music by Gene de Paul and Saul Chaplin. Nominated for five Oscars in 1954 including Best Picture and winner of Best Musical Scoring.
