The KCET Cinema Series continued with "Bernie" a dark comedy based on the events described in the Texas Monthly article, "Midnight in the Garden of East Texas."
About the film:
In a local Texas town a mortician strikes up an odd relationship with a wealthy widow and all hell breaks loose. Hilarious film stars Jack Black, Shirley MacLaine and Matthe McConaughey. It was the opening night film of the LA Film Festival, it's a dark comedy you won't soon forget.
After the screening, host Pete Hammond led a Q&A with director Richard Linklater. Linklater talked about the real life events behind the film, small town life, and the why the story intrigued him.
