KCET's thrice-yearly screening series is back for fall! Join us as we preview eight major new films prior to their first run local release.

Hosted by nationally recognized film expert Pete Hammond, the KCET Cinema series allows you to review the best of Hollywood, independent and foreign films Tuesday nights at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in North Hollywood. A lively Q & A follows each screening with the filmmakers and top movie talent.

October 5 is our opening night, featuring Secretariat, based on William Nack's book Secretariat: The Making of a Champion. This series will also include Conviction, starring two-time Academy Award-winner Hilary Swank, Sam Rockwell, Juliette Lewis, Minnie Driver and Peter Gallagher. Conviction tells the true story of Betty Anne Waters (Swank), a high school dropout and single mother who spends nearly two decades putting herself through college and law school, in order to overturn her brother's unjust murder conviction. We'll also be showing Made in Dagenham, which stars Sally Hawkins and Miranda Richardson, and tells the story of a 1968 strike at a British Ford plant by female workers.

October 5

Directed by Randall Wallace (We Were Soldiers) Q&A immediately follows with co-star Nestor Serrano (True Blood).

October 12
CONVICTION (Fox Searchlight Pictures)

Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams deliver award winning performances in director Derek Cianfrance's very personal drama.
This film was a controversial hit at the film festival circuit -- from Sundance to Cannes to Toronto. Q&A immediately follows with producer Jamie Patrocof.

October 26

Inspired by Slavomir Rawicz's acclaimed novel, "The Long Walk: The True Story of a Trek to Freedom" as well as other real life accounts, six time Oscar nominated director Peter Weir's ("Witness", "Master And Commander", & "Dead Poet's Society") "The Way Back" is a remarkable adventure story chronicling the escape of a small group of multi-national prisoners from a Siberian gulag in 1940 and their epic life affirming journey over thousands of miles across five hostile countries. Stars Ed Harris, Colin Farrell, Jim Sturgess, Saoirse Ronan. A smash during its recent World Premiere at the Telluride Film Festival and opening to qualify for Academy Awards on December 29. Q&A follows with producer Joni Levin, writer and co-executive producer Keith Clarke and star Ed Harris.

Q&A immediately follows with director Tom Hooper ("John Adams").
