On November 22, 2011, the versatile Glenn Close reprises the role of Albert Nobbs, a character she originated 29 years ago in a stage production. To survive male-dominated 19th-century Ireland, an Englishwoman disguises as a man named Albert Nobbs and works as a butler in a hotel. Ms.Close spent 15 years developing the film, ultimately producing it and co-writing the screenplay. The film also stars Mia Wasikowska, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, and Aaron Johnson.
