Leo Tolstoy's literary masterpiece is brought to life in a bold new way at next week's KCET Cinema Series screening of the breathtaking new adaptation of "Anna Karenina" from director Joe Wright.
Marking this the director's third collaboration with the lovely and talented Keira Knightley, "Anna Karenina" takes us on an emotional and visual journey through the perils of passionate and adulterous love in a late-19th century Russian high society that values duty and honor above all else. Knightley's Anna enjoys a respectable, though loveless, marriage with her high-ranking husband (Jude Law) when she's suddenly captivated by an overwhelming infatuation with soldier Count Vronsky (Aaron Taylor-Johnson). The affair that's to follow is one that leads down a rabbit hole of tragedy and shame for Anna and those she holds dearest.
"Anna Karenina" is out in theaters on November 16th, but KCET Cinema Series members are in for a special treat this Tuesday when director Joe Wright and star Keira Knightley join Pete Hammond for a Q & A immediately following our preview screening!
