Learn more about how KCET is partnering with local organizations to provide our community with more educational opportunities.
Every year, KCET welcomes about 2,500 parents and kids onto the station lot for our Family Day. The free event provides an opportunity for families to learn more about the multitude of local community resources available to parents with young kids, including KCET's own early childhood educational programs. The fun-filled day includes activities that enrich children's learning experiences, such as arts and crafts, music and dance workshops, games and storytelling.
One of the highlights is our live stage show which features performances by special guest musicians, singers and storytellers, including José-Luis Orozco, Elizabeth Sanchez (host of "A Place of Our Own") and Alina Rosario (host of "Los Niños en Su Casa"). Children also have an opportunity to meet some of their favorite Kids television characters, such as "Sid the Science Kid," "Arthur," "Clifford," and KCET's own, Captain Infinity.
Family Day would not be the success it is without the help and support of our partners - community organizations such as libraries, museums, child care resource and referral agencies, and school districts. Since its inception, Family Day has welcomed more than 25,000 visitors.
