The Bicycle Film Festival is in its tenth year of showing films about this passionate lifestyle around the globe. The documentary "To Live & Ride in L.A." will premiere on Sept. 3 featuring places where cars can't go from a two-wheeled perspective. Most screenings are of short films, including "Countywide: Bicycling across Los Angeles." The 54-minute "Birth of Big Air," directed by Jeff Tremaine, takes a look at Mat Hoffman, one of the biggest stars in BMX riding.

The Morono Kiang gallery in the Bradbury Building will host the Joyride art show opening reception, Sept. 1 at 6pm, 218 W. 3rd St. in downtown.
