Come join in on the Hammer's annual music celebration, JazzPOP, an outdoor concert program that takes place every Thursday this month. This week, catch accomplished fluist Nicole Mitchell as she works her smooth music magic at the Hammer courtyard.
From the Hammer:
"Flutist, composer, and bandleader Nicole Mitchell has attracted attention in recent years for her ambitious, fresh ensemble writing as much as for her "technically crisp, melodically imaginative and profoundly heartfelt playing" (All About Jazz). She brings her new Chicago-meets-New York trio, including stellar Cuban drummer Dafnis Prieto, to the Hammer for an intimate set showcasing her warm flute tone and ethereal vocalizations."
Here's is a preview of Mitchell's music:
"ALL HAMMER PUBLIC PROGRAMS ARE FREE. Seating is on a first come, first served basis. Hammer members receive priority seating, subject to availability. Reservations not accepted, RSVPs not required.
Easy parking is available under the museum for $3 after 6:00pm. "
