The Los Angeles County Fair is back starting Labor Day weekend. If it gets too hot, cool off at the "L.A. in Ice" exhibit, featuring Los Angeles landmarks as ice sculptures. Teena Marie, Rick Springfield and Hall & Oates will perform throughout the month to help recapture someone's youth. Those still young can see the teen mega-star Selena Gomez on Sept. 18.

The fair is best known for cuisine deep-fried on a stick, although the fair will offer salads, yogurt and smoothies. Wash it all down with a tasting selection from the Los Angeles International Commercial Beer Competition throughout the month. Or, if milk is your drink, judge the dairy competition, which involves dairy products like cheese, yogurt and ice cream.

And of course, there are all the carnival rides and animals.
