Six miles south of Independence, Calif., what was once the Manzanar War Relocation Center, an internment camp for Japanese Americans during World War II, is now known as Manzanar National Historic Site. The National Park Service is inviting the public to learn about and give feedback on a planned "demonstration block" at the site, an exhibition that will help visitors understand what life was like at Manzanar between 1942 and 1945.
From the press release:
The meeting will provide an opportunity for those interested to review and comment on proposed approaches to interpretive exhibits. "We are eager to involve the public in the important process of deciding how best to tell the stories of Manzanar," Superintendent Les Inafuku said.A draft of the plans is available on the park website.
