Violinist Robert Gupta, the youngest current member of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, visits the Aloud series for a discussion and performance.
From the event website:
LA Philharmonic violinist Robert Gupta was always deeply passionate about playing his instrument, but when he encountered Los Angeles's skid row for the first time, he was inspired to discover a way he could use his musical talents to reach a deeply ostracized audience. Through utilizing music as outreach, he founded Street Symphony, an ensemble of musicians committed to bringing the tremendous therapeutic power of great music to the disenfranchised communities in Southern California. Tonight we will get a taste of the sound and service he is providing through Street Symphony.Gupta will be joined in conversation by Gail Eichenthal, program director of Classical KUSC.
