thursday, august 16 is the great man, Charles Bukowski's birthday. i've crafted the Charles Bukowski Self-Guided Walking Tour for grand performances that will take you and your friends across and around the bucolic town of san pedro - hank's last home.

this link will take you to a google map with all the info you need. A unique component of this tour are the audio files of readings of the author's works by Harry Dean Stanton, Rebecca De Mornay, Gerald Locklin, Jack Grapes and more. http://goo.gl/maps/ZMwnY

please begin at the san pedro post office, pick up a Grand Performances pin (to identify you as part of the walking tour,) listen to the linked audio file and follow the route from there. although the distances are not great, you should drive from the post office to sixth street and ultimately to pacific avenue and one or all three of the bars. senfuku's sushi is good and the sapporos are cold. william's books is offering a 10% discount. sacred grounds pulls an excellent espresso and serves tasty grub. please support these very fine establishments.

if you, or a member of your group do not have a smart phone, feel free to listen to the soundcloud files before you depart for the evening. for those of you who have smart phones, qr codes will be posted on the front of each of the locations for easy listening.

we look forward to meeting and seeing you all along the way. please feel free to bring a copy of your favorite Bukowski literature. we will be reading along the way. if you plan to drink, please have a designated driver in your group.

Happy Birthday Hank!
