As Los Angeles continues to expand and fill with new residents, the ability of its government to effectively reach every member has traditionally faltered. Now, with the rise of social media, local and state governments, social services and civic institutions have the ability to reach large amounts of their affected population effortlessly. This lecture looks at the growing ways in which these institutions can use social media to create a more informed, better prepared and ultimately more prosperous city.
