You may want to check your true nihilist creds after spending 120 minutes at the 2012 Nihilist Film Festival this Friday in Echo Park. While certainly not for everyone, the two-hour short film screenings delve deep into what it means to be an existential nihilist - that is, to think that life is meaningless, and morality doesn't exist. And while some of the films may be truly wrenching, there are still plenty of laughs to be mined through the screening. Just take this quote from festival director Elisha Shapiro: "I really thought we would have caused the rapture by now. I guess there's no downside to mocking all that's holy". The event is free with donations accepted, and anyone is invited to attend, although children and anyone with a religious bone in their body probably won't enjoy themselves.
