The right tree can help define and shape the look of any home, while an unpruned tree can be unsightly, hard to deal with or even dangerous. Often, homeowners look to professional tree services to maintain the health and appearance of their trees, but there are many simple tree pruning tasks that can be taken on by the individual. Environmental horticulturist Don Hodel will be on hand at Cal State Northridge on Saturday, January 5th from 9am to 11am to discuss what individual homeowners can do to care for their trees. His emphasis will be on deciduous and fruit trees, with an eye towards early pruning to help correct the growth of younger trees. The event is free but requires pre-registration.
