Cinespia and the Cinefamily present the first installment of this new screening series, which opens with the work of filmmaker Olivia Wyatt of the Sublime Frequencies collective.
The program will include shorts from Wyatt's travels in Ethiopia as well as her latest feature, The Pierced Heart and the Machete, a documentary about voodoo pilgrimages in Hawaii. From the Cinefamily website:
These week-long journeys on foot show people alternately bathing in the beautiful streams of a sacred waterfall, becoming possessed, and, after the sun goes down, playing traditional voodoo music and dancing in wild frenzies.Wyatt will also participate in a Q&A session at the screening.
