Nery Gabriel Lemus is a cultural artist, one whose work involve the audience, and sometimes provoke. The political pieces often evoke the disparity between Mexican and African American cultures, as Lemus himself hails from the multiracial suburbs of Los Angeles. The winner of 2013's COLA Individual Artist Grant, Lemus will continue to indulge his artistic urges as part of the upcoming A Hero Ain't Nothin' But A Sandwich show, which runs at the Charlie James Gallery in Chinatown through March 30th.
