At the Redondo Beach pier, they take kites very seriously. For nearly the past 40 years, kite flying has been an integral part of the beach culture in the South Bay, so much so that Redondo Beach sought to create a successful festival to celebrate all the fun. The family-friendly Sunday event begins at 12pm and will feature prizes for everything from the highest flying kite or the best handmade kite to the youngest kite flyer on the sand. There will also be live music, a hot dog eating competition and demonstrations all along the pier.
