As chef and owner of D.O.M. in São Paulo, Brazil, Alex Atala presides over one of the best restaurants in the world. For more than a decade, Atala has used his position as one of the most forward-thinking chefs around to expand the global knowledge of food. He often works with cultural anthropologists and scientists to identify new Amazonian foods and refine ancient techniques to elevate those foods to modern heights. At this event on the UCLA campus, Atala will discuss the impact that science and discovery have had on his cooking, and Brazilian cuisine as a whole.
