If your mom is as cool as we hope she is, take her to The Federal Bar in North Hollywood on Sunday. There, she'll be able to soak up Mother's Day with readings from some of the city's best emerging voices, in a group show curated as part of the New Short Fiction Series. The spoken word series kicks off at 7 P.M., with a $10 advanced purchase, but since this is their 10th anniversary of putting on the show, you may want to get there a little early. Emerging writers like Sue Coppa, Josh DuBose and Darri Farr will have their works read by a rotating group of actors, each with their own interesting twist on the material.
