Inspired by Bogota's ciclovias -- citywide street closures designed to promote walking, biking and playing in public spaces -- Los Angeles hosts its eighth Ciclavia.

Following the theme Heart of L.A., this installment features a 7.5-mile route stretching from MacArthur Park in the west to Boyle Heights in the east, and from Chinatown in the north to Exposition Park in the south.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, including a full course map, go to www.ciclavia.org, and check out this video from KCET's "City Walk."
