Hollywood Forever commemorates the Day of the Dead with this 14th annual Dia de los Muertos celebration, which is billed as the largest such event in the country. The theme for this year's celebration is The Magical World of Alebrijes -- which are brightly colored Mexican folk-art sculptures of fantastical creatures.

The festivities include a traditional procession with Aztec blessings; musical performances by Saul Hernandez, Ceci Bastida, Buyepongo, Chicano Batman and Quitapenas; altars created by community members to honor their ancestors and loved ones; an art exhibition; a costume contests; food and drinks; and more.

The event runs from noon to midnight. For more information, go to the event website. Also check out KCET's photo gallery from the 2011 celebration.
