Western Avenue
A young Asian American walks the balance between student life and being the extortionist for a mobster. John Cho (Better Luck Tomorrow, American Pie, Off Centre ) stars as Thanh, a teenaged Korean-American kid determined to become the protagonist of his own life in this debut short film by Sumi Yang Reeves and the American Film Institute’s Directing Workshop for Women. Set in Los Angeles’ Koreatown, this film examines the rather complex world of a young man at the intersection of Youth and Maturity, Right and Wrong. Thanh finds himself balancing school and his father’s expectations, with the lure of the easy money he finds as a small-time hood. Yet, the conflict is not that simple. Deciding to take control of ones own life is sometimes about figuring out which life is the one to take control of.

An addict reflects on the last moments of his life as he discovers a truth too late... or is it? A man finds himself in the middle of nowhere with nothing but a bottle of liquor to end his misery. What he finds instead are a couple strangers too strange to describe while being haunted of fragmented memories, puzzling into a truth that may be too late realized. However, things in this world are never what they seem to be.

A female jogger inadvertently stumbles into a backyard where she sees what she believes is a man underwater. She jumps in and realizes he bears human features but has gills, like a fish, and lives underwater. "When Holly goes out for a jog one day she discovers a man drowning in his pool. Rushing to his rescue she discovers not only that he can swim but his amazing gift for living under water."
