About the Series
Now in its seventh season, Fine Cut features the work of a collection of visionary artists and filmmakers attending such SoCal institutions as the Art Center College of Design, the American Film Institute, California Institute of the Arts, Loyola Marymount, UCLA, USC and Columbia College. These films are as diverse as the people who made them, ranging from cockeyed fairy tales, to gut-wrenching stories of love and betrayal, to hard-nosed commentaries of Los Angeles life. The films can be of any genre and style and all have been produced within the last two years.

About the Hosts

Internationally acclaimed documentarians Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman host this year’s series. The duo first claimed fame with their 1989 Academy Award winning documentary feature, Common Threads: Stories from the Quilt. The talented writers, directors, editors and producers have since completed the acclaimed theatrically released documentaries The Celluloid Closet (1995) and Paragraph 175 (1999). The two have recently branched into episodic television, producing and directing the last season of the heralded Law & Order spin-off, Crime and Punishment.
