About the Players
Beth Lapides, creator of The Un-Cabaret, started her career in the downtown N.Y. art world as a visual and performance artist. She created, executive produced, and hosted several TV projects including the "Un-Cabaret" special for Comedy Central, "The Sweet Smell of Excess," a series for the Recovery Network. and "The Couch" for MTV, featuring Andy Dick, Scott Thompson, Mike Mills, John C. Reilly, Adam Werbach and Luisa Teisch. As an actor, Lapides specializes in eccentric authority figures, including a club host on NBC's "Will & Grace," a dominatrix in Single White Female and a gallery owner in Muse.
Andy Dick, actor, writer and director, and, star of "The Andy Dick Show" on MTV. He's best known for playing Matthew on the sitcom "NewsRadio." He's also appeared in over 60 films and TV shows, including Zoolander, Dude, Where's My Car?, Being John Malkovich, "Star Trek Voyager," and "Just Shoot Me."
Carrie Fisher is an actress and writer, forever known as Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy. She's appeared in over 60 films and TV shows, including Shampoo, When Harry Met Sally, and, more recently, Scream 3. She's written three novels, Postcards from the Edge, Surrender the Pink, and Remember Grandma.
Kathy Griffin is an actress and comedian, playing the role of Vicki on the sitcom "Suddenly Susan." Her scores of TV and film credits include The Cable Guy, Pulp Fiction, "The Simpsons," "Seinfeld," and "ER."
Sue Murphy is a comedian who has headlined at every major comedy club in the U.S. She was also featured on her own half-hour special "Comedy Central Presents Sue Murphy."
Taylor Negron is a writer, comedian, and actor, best known for his role as the pizza delivery guy in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. He's since appeared in dozens of TV shows such as "Friends," "ER," and "The Practice," and over 50 films, including Easy Money, River's Edge, The Last Boy Scout, and Stuart Little.
Randy & Jason Sklar are comedians - and twin brothers. They created and presented two live comedy shows in New York that lead to their own series on MTV, "Apartment 2F."
Julia Sweeney is an actress and writer, best known for Pat, the character she created and acted during four seasons on "Saturday Night Live." Julia has appeared in numerous films and TV shows, including Coneheads, Pulp Fiction, "Mad About You," "Suddenly Susan," National Lampoon's Vegas Vacation, Beethoven's 3rd and 4th, Stuart Little, and most recently, Clockstoppers. At the Un-Cabaret, Sweeney developed her one-woman show, God Said Ha!, about her family's battles with cancer. Later, she both wrote and directed the film version of the play.
