The Last Bit of SoCal Skiing is This Weekend
It's starting to feel like summer here in Los Angeles, but if you want one last local taste of a winter adrenaline rush, you're in luck. Two Southern California ski areas are staying open through this week.
On the northeastern slopes of the San Gabriel Mountains is the popular and often crowded Mountain High, which announced Monday that it will hold its last day of the season on Sunday. And cutting its season a day earlier is Snow Summit near Big Bear Lake.
If that's not enough, there's always the four to six hour drive from L.A. to Mammoth Mountain, which experienced record breaking snowfall this year. The last ski day there will be celebrated with fireworks. After all, it will be the Fourth of July.
