Like the pictures of Eagle Rock Underground and Leos! Thank you Oxy students for recognizing the ER culture.

If you are around Eagle Rock today (March 19), please join us at Occidental College's Weingeart Hall Gallery at 6:30 for a live exhibition of the project and some velvet cup cakes from Auntie Ems!

It's good that Oxy is getting out of it's cocoon and exploring the community. But then again why did you make the people just stand silent on the videos ? What is this Andy Warhol's "Sleep"? It's not art. It's dumb. And authoritarian on behalf of the filmmakers. They determine when their "subjects" are allowed to speak. And then there are the separate audio snippets but they are too short like those samples on iTunes.

This feels more like the trailer for an Eagle Rock documentary. I know several of the people being portrayed and I know they have more than 20 seconds worth of stories to tell.

I find this so fascinating and really well done. I have lived in Eagle Rock for 5 years and I did not know about so many of the businesses that you highlighted. Really excellent piece. Thank you so much.

funny comment about oxy in a "cocoon". i sometimes get that impression myself, but, then again, many colleges can be worlds within themselves anyway. very interesting project.
nytimes has excellent slide shows with audio. but i don't think they use the use "video" perhaps that term is causing confusion.

i love living in north east l.a.

One of the pieces is titled "Macrocosm." Did you mean "microcosm?"

The panorama provides an amazing glimpse into this neighborhood. Cool stuff.

i like the video profiles where their is movement around the principle focus. DOPE!

Go Oxy students! You did a fantastic job on this. I'm thrilled to look at Eagle Rock and to see so many things (Auntie Em's, Pat and Lorraine's, the Bucket, Taco Truck, Super A) are STILL there. Last time I frequented them was in 1988 when I was in college. Heartening to know that the good stuff really can last and not get bought out by the big guys. Love your work! You did us proud.

Thank you Oxy Students for this view of Eagle Rock. I have lived in Eagle Rock since 1940's and now have a new view of my hometown. A little disappointed that I did not see image of the "Eagle Rock" or the famous Chicago style pizzaria Casa Bianca or many other establised businesses on Eagle Rock's Main Street Colorado Blvd, or the very begininng of Figueroa Boulevard. A note about the 134 Freeway going through Eagle Rock as well as the 2 Freeway. My father Floyd J. Stevenson was the Chief LA County Engineer who with his team designed both of these freeways and was a resident of Eagle Rock since the 1930's.

I grew up in Eagle Rock from 1947 - 1969. I have many wonderful memories of your beautiful community, and this project gave me a precious glimpse of it today. The Eagle Rock spirit is obviously alive and well in its citizens. I gain the impression that it still has the qualities of a small town nestled in the foothills of a great city. Congratulations all around!
