Here's a peek at the America -- and the L.A. -- that received "The Perils of Pauline" back on July 4, 1947. Given the recent triumph of "The Artist" at the Oscars, this airing of "The Perils of Pauline" is especially timely.
A screwball comedy starring William Powell as Godfrey, a man who is picked up by socialite Irene (Carole Lombard) and is made into the perfect butler.
Merle Oberon, Melvyn Douglas, and Burgess Meredith star in Ernst Lubitsch's "That Uncertain Feeling," a film about a bored wife who asks for a divorce after meeting a pianist.
Jonathan Haze stars in Roger Corman's dark comedy, "The Little Shop of Horrors."
Bob Hope, Dorothy Lamour, Lon Chaney, and Peter Lorre star in the 1947 "My Favorite Brunette," a spoof of detective, film noir films.
