KCET is recreating the moviegoing experience from the Golden Age of Hollywood and invites viewers to meet the original artists from the silver screen! Classic Cool Theater is a weekly 120-minute series, which will include a classic cartoon, a feature film, a newsreel, and a musical short. The weekly program debuts with Frank Capra's 1941 Academy Award Nominated film and all time Classic "Meet John Doe" starring Gary Cooper and Barbara Stanwick.
Gary Cooper is a down-and-out Everyman who is thrust into the public eye because of a newspaper story written by reporter Barbara Stanwyck. The publicity spawns a political philosophy in the country and, when others take over the movement, Cooper's character considers a drastic move. One of Frank Capra's most memorable films.
