For the past eight months high school graduate Mascha Schädlich has been working at a wildlife observatory in Brakwater, near Windhoek. She is working in conservation. Mascha came to Namibia with the "weltwärts, program run by Germany's Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. There are some 10,000 young German applicants between the age of 18 and 28 each year. They all want to do voluntary social service in overseas countries. Only some 4,000 applicants are accepted.
