In the development of renewable energy policies, France and Germany are focusing primarily on wind power. But more and more people are taking a stand against the construction of new wind farms. They say turbines spoil the landscape. The noise they make drives people away and has a negative effect on property value. Proponents of wind energy insist there isn't an alternative to large-scale construction of wind farms. This report gives voice to both advocates and adversaries of wind energy in Germany and France and shows that the switchover to sustainable energy can be achieved, but not without discord.
