Watch two video clips from this weekend's Moyers & Company conversation between Bill Moyers and Tony Kushner, the Pulitzer Prize-winning screenwriter behind Steven Spielberg's Lincoln.
In video above, Kushner cautions against being swept up in the "romance" of revolution. "Always take to the streets," he tells Bill. "But always make sure there are people in the halls of power who can listen to what you're saying in the streets and say 'Okay, I get it. I'm going to do something about this.'"
In the second video, Kushner explains his passion for politics and talks about the importance of seeing problems and solutions in a political context. "There's a lot at stake in politics -- the fate of the world hangs in the balance. If we don't fix the planetary catastrophe, we're doomed as a species." he tells Bill. "The solution to that is not going to be mystical; the solution to it I believe is going to be political."
Bill Moyers (now retired) hosted a weekly hour of compelling conversation about the state of American democracy, featuring a range of scholars, activists, scientists, and newsmakers.
