This 90-minute documentary by filmmakers Saratoga Ballantine and Dea Lawrence profiles a dozen actors over 80 in Hollywood -- performers who beat the odds, followed their dreams, and worked well into their 80s and 90s. One who is profiles is Ballantine's father, well-known comedian Carl Ballantine. "Troupers" takes a humorous look at how this group of fearless folks survived parental disapproval, the blacklist of the '50s, poverty, divorce, rejection, disappointment, critics, bad acting coaches, and decades of auditions. But, they ended up doing what they wanted to do: performing.
