Kashmir remains one of the world’s most dangerous flashpoints. Conflict and instability in the state have left tens of thousands of people dead. But has India done enough to minimalise the casualties and address the concerns of the people? The Outsider debates: India should be ashamed of its record in Kashmir. Speaking in favour of the motion are Vrinda Grover, a lawyer and human rights activist, and Junaid Mattu, Srinigar District President of the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference. Arguing against the motion are Lt. Gen B.S. Jaswal, former Northern Commander in the Indian Army, and Wajahat Habibullah, who has served in a number of official roles in Jammu and Kashmir and is currently Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities.
