Michael Apted directed the Bond film "The World is Not Enough." He gave us "Coal Miner's Daughter" and "Gorillas in the Mist." But perhaps his most fascinating work started half a century ago -- the "Up" series, documentaries about a group of British children. It began in 1964 when they were 7 years old, and every seven years, there's been an update. The "kids" are middle-aged now. The latest installment, "56 Up," opens Friday.
