Runaway Production

Just six or seven years ago fully two-thirds of all features films shot in the US were filmed here in Southern California. Now that percentage has dropped to one-third. So-called runaway production has been fueled by a host of incentives and tax breaks offered by other states. And that's costing California. L.A .Times columnist David Lazarus investigates the reasons behind the Hollywood exodus, and looks at what local and state officials are trying to do to reverse it.
