Up Front: The unusually cold temperatures in Southern California of late are thought to have claimed the lives of three homeless people, two of them in the city of Costa Mesa. Correspondent Brian Rooney went there recently to see what officials are doing to help the homeless population.
In the Studio:
• Since Rooney's report, Costa Mesa has taken some steps to address the needs of its homeless population. Former L.A. Times City Hall watchdog Bill Boyarsky talks to Val about what other cities should be doing.
• Survivors of sexual abuse by priests are ready to confront the man they hold responsible, L.A. Archbishop Cardinal Roger Mahony. Manny Vega of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, or SNAP, talks to Madeleine about his own confrontation with the cardinal.
