In the season 4 premiere of SoCal Connected, we hit the ground running, literally, with the next installment of our ongoing series "Show Me the Money." Correspondent Vince Gonzales takes an in-depth look into the ubiquitous issue of cracked and crumbling sidewalks, and what the City of Los Angeles is doing to curb the problem. Next, Brian Rooney speaks to critics and proponents of the marketing geniuses at Carl's Jr., and asks what responsibility, if any, fast food companies have to prevent the obesity epidemic in the U.S. Finally, commentator Brian Unger gives us his take on the fur ban in the City of West Hollywood.

I PERSONALLY CONTACTED BY MAIL THE MAYOR., SUPERVISOR ANTONIVICH, COUNCILMAN GRIEG SMITH, STREET SERVICES HEAD WILLIAM ROBERTSON, AND DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS WITH MY IDEA TO CONTRACT WITH A COMPANY RUBBERSIDEWALKS.COM TO PROVIDE A PROGRAM TO FIX AND REPAIR SIDEWALKS FOR THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES. THEY ALL LIKED MY IDEA AND FORWARDED THEIR FEELINGS TO STREET SERVICES TO LOOK INTO THIS, NOTHING HAS HAPPEN SINCE. THIS PRODUCT IS MADE FROM OLD CAR TIRES THAT WOULD GO TO A LANDFILL INSTEAD THIS PRODUCT IS USED IN MANY CITIES THOUGHOUT THE U.S. THE ADVANTAGE OF THE PRODUCT IS THAT IT ALLOWS THE CITY TO REPLACE SIDEWALKS WITH A PRODUCT YOU COULD REMOVE WITHOUT DEMOLISHING TO CUT ROOTS OF TREES OR CHANGING PIPES THEN PUT IT BACK. BASICALLY IT ENDS MANTENANCE AND REPOURING CEMENT TO DO THIS. THE LABOR COSTS TO INSTALL ARE MUCH LESS AND THE PRODUCT IS GREEN AND RECYCLEABLE AT THE END OF IT'S LONG LIFE. CEMENT IS MANUFACTURED WITH GREAT HEAT AND IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST DESTROYERS OF THE OZONE NOT TO MENTION HOW MUCH WATER IS USED TO MAKE IT AND CLEAN IT UP AFTER USE. CEMENT ALSO ENDS UP IN LANDFILLS THAT SERVES NO PURPOSE BUT TO TAKE UP NEED SPACE. PLEASE LOOK INTO RUBBERSIDEWALKS.COM AND LEARN FOR YOUIRSELF. OTHER CITIES SEE IT'S POTENTIAL IF THE CITY DOES NOT LIKE THIS PRODUCT I'M SURE THIS MANUFACTURER OR OTHERS WOULD WORK WITH THE CITY TO COME UP WITH A SOLUTION. WE ALL NEED TO LOOK AT THE LARGER PICTURE AND DO WE WANT TO KEEP PUTTING OUR MONEY INTO ENDLESS REPAIRS. THE WHOLE POINT IS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM SO WE DON'T HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN AND THE MONEY SAVED AFTERWORDS COULD GO TO OTHER THINGS.
