All across the country, newspapers are in serious trouble. Many are folding, others cutting back dramatically, and our own L.A. Times -- barely out of bankruptcy -- is being shopped around. And into this depressing picture comes Aaron Kushner, the new owner and publisher of the Orange County Register. He's spending money hiring staff, revitalizing the paper, and more than a few people are saying he's going to make a play for the L.A. Times.
